Not one. There are no analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, and no “strictly necessary” cookies either, because the site does not need any.
It also stores nothing else on your device: no local storage, no session storage, no tracking pixels, and no fingerprinting.
That is why you were not asked to accept anything.
Why there is no “accept cookies” box
The rule that governs cookie banners is regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. It says a website must get your consent before storing information on your device, or reading information already there, unless that storage is strictly necessary to provide the service you asked for.
This site stores nothing, so there is nothing to consent to. A box asking you to accept cookies that do not exist would be a question about nothing. It would also be the first thing standing between you and the answer you came here for, which for a page about a worrying telephone call is a poor trade.
If that ever changes, this page changes first, and a real consent request appears with it.
Check it yourself
You do not have to believe us, and the rest of this site says the same thing about everything else. On a computer you can see the cookies any website has set in about fifteen seconds.
- Press F12 on Windows, or Option, Command and I on a Mac. A panel opens at the side or the bottom.
- Find the tab called Application in Chrome or Edge, or Storage in Firefox.
- In the list down the side, open Cookies, then Local storage, then Session storage.
- All three will be empty for this website.
Press F12 again, or the same keys, to close the panel. Nothing you do in there changes anything on your computer.
Nothing on this page comes from anywhere else
Most websites that claim to use no cookies still load things from other companies, and those companies see your internet address whether or not a cookie is set. This one does not do that either.
- No analytics. We do not measure visits at all, so we will never know how many people this page reassured. That is the trade, and we think it is the right one.
- No advertising or marketing tags.
- No web fonts. The site uses a typeface already on your device, partly so that no font company ever sees your internet address.
- No embedded maps, videos or social buttons.
- No content delivery network from a third party.
The one thing the page does look up
The panel showing which NHS organisation covers your area asks our own server one question and receives back the first one or two letters of your postcode, and which UK nation you are in. Nothing more precise, and nothing is written to your device or kept at our end.
Our privacy notice explains that in full. If you would rather it did not run at all, turning JavaScript off in your browser stops it, and the rest of the page works exactly as before.
What our hosting provider sees
This is not a cookie, but it is the honest completion of the picture. Every website has to know where to send a page, so your internet address reaches our hosting provider, Cloudflare, which uses it to deliver the page and to block attacks. We do not store it, log it, or connect it to anything about you.
